Ken Job, borough engineer, tells Patch workers are waiting for the pavement to cool before reopening it to traffic. As previously reported, it was expected that the lanes would have been reopen by 6 a.m. but as of the afternoon traffic was still being diverted over to the right lane and the shoulder. Traffic was slow but moving around 1 p.m. Thursday.
The outer and middle lanes in the area of Kiddie World and the Nissan dealership had been closed off since Tuesday morning for emergency work to replace a sewer main pipe that had collapsed underneath the roadway. Traffic is being diverted on to the right lane and shoulder in the meantime.
In recent weeks inspection by the borough engineer and the DPW superintendent had found significant settlement above the pipe and bulging of the roadway was visible indicated the piped had collapsed.
