Brothers Lou and Chris Denis opened the Garden Café on Henley Avenue in New Milford, nestled behind their successful flower shop and liquor store back in 2006.
Since then, their goal has been making it a gathering place for patrons, friends and family. Chris said, “It’s here where friends become family.”
The Garden Café has a beautiful garden and patio where customers come to sit and relax. I think that food always tastes better when dining al fresco.
This cozy café is open for breakfast and lunch with choices that include sandwiches, omelets, baked goods, and paninis like their famed Lou-da-Chris and Baba-Lou. They also offer a variety of wraps, individual pizza pies like the Garden Salad Pie (which by the way is fantastic), delicious homemade soup du jour, an array of salads, daily specials, specialty coffees, smoothies and yummy desserts.
By the way, their homemade potato chips are an absolute must have.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the café is open until 5 p.m. But did you know that they’re open late on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for dinner and entertainment?
Bring your own bottle and enjoy an all you can eat pasta dinner on Thursdays for $9.99 while listening to the vocals of Mark Fabian or Nick Armstrong.
Feel like fish? Then Friday is your night. Fish and chips are on the menu for $9.95 with your second helping half price. Don’t forget your lyrics because karaoke is coming Friday, July 29.
Keep your Saturdays to hear the sounds of Nick Mancini on July 16, Greg Caldarone on July 23 and Teddy Judge on July 30. Enjoy a lovely date or casual meal with friends. The set menu includes a variety of appetizers, entrees and salads.
The Garden Café honors businesses daily in which employees receive 10 percent off their bills. Perhaps your place of employment is one of them.
Delivery service is also available.
I hear there’s always something going on at the Garden Café. Heck, even the Real Housewives of New Jersey filmed a segment of their reality show while enjoying a delightful lunch and a "staged" heated argument in the parking lot.
The Garden Café takes pride in helping their community. Many local organizations in and around New Milford turn to the café to host their wine, beer and cheese tasting fundraisers.
What’s better than a light meal, a cappuccino, a cupcake, a little acoustic guitar on a beautiful night with a bunch of friends? I can’t think of a single thing.
