Field Should Have New Fence Soon

Construction is expected to begin after contract is awarded this month.

The new decorative fence which will replace the old chain link one on the Franklin Avenue side of Depken Field is expected to begin soon.

Borough officials are expected to award a contract at the next mayor and council meeting, according to Mike Kronyak, borough administrator.

Work to intall the new fence would begin shortly after, he said, adding that it is expected the construction will not take long.

In preparation of the pending installation, two trees which were growing into the existing fence were recently removed.

The new fence will have the same design as the black iron one which borders the Oldfield Avenue side of the field.

In addition to the installation of a new fence there are also plans to install a pavillion near the snack bar, and a paved area for ambulances to park at events will be installed.

As previously reported, the borough has about $150,000 towards the project, half of which comes from a grant and the rest from borough funds.
