Nearly 70 percent of registered voters in Hasbrouck Heights came to the polls Tuesday with the majority favoring Democrats from national to local races.

The majority of Hasbrouck Heights voters went along with others in the state and in the country favoring President Barack Obama over Republican Challenger Mitt Romney. Heights voters gave 2,710 votes to the President while Romney received 2,487.

In the U.S. Senate race where Democrat Congressman Robert Menendez faced a challenge from Republican Joe Kyrillos, Heights voters favored Mendendez with 2,529 and 2,187 for Kyrillos.

In this ninth Congressional district Hasbrouck Heights voters favored Bill Pascrell, Jr. with 2,643 votes while Republican Rabbi Schmuley Boteach got 1,890 votes. Pascrell defeated Boteach.

On the Bergen County level, Hasbrouck Heights voters went for Democrat challengers Steven Tanelli and Tracy Silna Zur for Freeholder who beat out Republican incumbents giving Democrats control once again. Heights voters gave Tanelli and Zur 2,210 and 2,090 votes respectively while Robert Hermansen received 2,050 and Margaret Watkins got 2,005.

On the municipal level Hasbrouck Heights voters gave 2,368 votes to Democrat challenger Christian Semenecz putting him in the lead for the two available council seats.

Semenecz's win unseated Republican Councilman John Dingertoprade who had 2,082 votes while Republican Councilman Russell Lipari was re-elected with 2,287 votes.

Of the 7,558 registered voters in Hasbrouck Heights, 2,506 are registered Republicans while only 1,682 are registered Democrats.

There are 3,369 undeclared voters.

These vote totals do not include absentee or mail-in ballots which will not be available until next week.
