New School Year Begins This Week
Also coming up this week, Patch plans to have the latest regarding the ex-Hasbrouck Heights cop who was indicted on charges in the murder of longtime friend who lived in Wood-Ridge.
Coming up this week on Patch. . .
School doors officially open this week as a new year of learning begins. The first day of school for all Hasbrouck Heights schools, including Corpus Christi, is Wednesday, Sept. 5.
The Hasbrouck Heights school district will host an orientation and presentation on HIB for parents of students entering sixth grade at the middle school and ninth grade at the high school on Tuesday.
Patch will bring readers coverage from the first day of school as well as the latest on what is to come for this school year.
Also this week we expect to have an update from the Bergen County Grand Jury as Scott Smith, the ex-Hasbrouck Heights police officer charged in the murder of his longtime friend, is expected to make an appearance in court this week.
In July, a Bergen County grand jury handed up a ten count indictment charging Smith in the December 2011 stabbing death of John Amendola, a Heights-native who lived in Wood-Ridge at the time.
Smith, 33, was indicted on charges including murder, weapons possesion and hindering. Smith continues to be held in Bergen County Jail on $2 million bail.
Also, look for updates on upcoming programs planned around town, at the library, and in the schools.
