Seuss Storytime Fun [PHOTOS]

Junior Women's Club presents prizes to the winners of the "Guess Who" artwork contest.

All the youngsters gathered on the large mat in front of the “Cat in the Hat” to hear some Dr. Seuss tales Thursday afternoon at the as the Junior Women’s Club brought local youngsters and their parents together to announce the winners of the “Guess Who” contest.

Local children in grades Kindergarten to fifth at , and were invited to submit artwork of their favorite book characters for the contest which coincides with Read Across America week.

Dr. Mark Porto, superintendent for the Hasbrouck Heights school district, had a special treat for the youngsters. He didn’t have just one book to show them but several pointing out the many different interests they can take part in from science to juggling. The kids went wild as Porto took out three glowing balls and started juggling for them.

All the submitted artwork has been put on display in the children’s activity room in the library. Nine winners were announced and as a prize each child received a puzzle made out of the artwork he or she created.

The winners of the “Guess Who” contest are:

Kindergarten-1st  grade
First place -  Navya Gupta,  Kindergarten - Corpus Christi
Second place -  Akhil Chirravuri, Kindergarten – Lincoln School
Third place - Juan Mendoza  Kindergarten - Corpus Christi

2nd and 3rd grade
First place: Nithin Vadakken, Third grade - Euclid School
Second place:  Weronika Ruchala, Third grade- Euclid School
Third place: Eisha Khan, Third grade – Euclid School

4th and 5th grade
First place - Matt Sicangco, Fifth grade - Lincoln School
Second place - Kellyn Lopez, Fourth grade – Euclid School
Third place - David Stevens, Fifth grade – Lincoln School
