Future Friends

Angel, a female pit bull terrier, is such a sweet girl who has had a sad life but is ready for her forever home. Her story is one of survival and admiration as she has a great spirit and has had the ability to trust in those who caused her suffering. This 5-6 year old was emaciated and bruised when she was found. With the help of her wonderful and caring foster family, she was able to recover and give birth to 7 healthy and beautiful pit bull puppies. All her puppies have found their new homes but Angel is still waiting. . Her love of humans and the need for companionship, makes her one of te most affectionate adoptable dogs at the shelter. Unfortunately, Angel would prefer to be the only love of your life so we are looking for a home that will take her as their only pet. The shelter will make sure she gets a home where she is not only treated with the utmost TLC, but with a family who will help her realize there is good in this world and that will remind her why she never gave up on human love. Jesse is a medium size, senior male tiger cat. He came to the shelter when his owner moved into an apartment that did not allow pets. He is front declawed and very sweet. You will find him hiding under the blanket in one of our front displays. He is about 7 to 8 years old. Can you open your heart to this sweet senior boy? Nike Grey is a domestic medium hair, grey male cat about 7 to 8 year olds. He is a talker and loves to lounge out on the cool shelter floor. Of course, he would love it even more if he had a home to call his own. He will get a microchip before leaving the shelter.

Poppy is a very gentle large, senior domestic short hair cat. He is front declawed and really enjoys being brushed and pet. Poppy is a very mellow cat and it’s believed he will do okay with other calm cats.

Blake is somewhat of a mystery, a cross between lab and mastiff. At 3-4 years old, he is quite calm and content as an independent fellow but enjoys some good ol' fashioned love too. This well mannered gentleman properly asks for attention so continued positive socialization will be key so he doesn't lose this unique quality. To help with the bonding process we always recommend walks, runs, hand feeding, training, etc. The more he acclimates to his situation, the more comfortable he will feel with his family and in his new home. He has a slight guarding issue that shouldn’t escalate if addressed early on. An experienced home with older children would be a great match for this handsome fellow.

Stewie is a domestic short hair, black and white cat. Stewie is a shy 12 year old front declawed cat. She has lived with children before, but seems to be a little shy around other animals. Stewie does like to be held and pet. She should do ok in a home with another mellow cat.

Sholoco is a pure breed male boxer, who is full of energy and vitality. This 4-5 year old will need a strong and confident leader to show him the ropes and his place in the world. This handsome man came in because his owners were unable to care for him. It seems as though this pooch received no formal training so basic obedience is in order. Sholoco came in with a female boxer friend and the shelter hopes will find a friend in another canine family member. The shelter can perform dog to dog introductions at the shelter with a seasoned volunteers. Although he does handle correction well, Sholoco appears to exhibit dominant behaviors and his handlers will need to correct him and provide him with a more balanced lifestyle with a stable routine.

Mooks is a precious senior, black lab who came to the shelter because his owner couldn't care for him any longer. At the tender age of 8, this big guy still has a lot of vigor and life left in him. Physical and mental stimulation will be in order. Walks are a great way to release some pent up energy, and can also aid in the bonding process. Mooks is currently on a course of antibiotics for Lyme disease. He is a huge mush who will undoubtedly feel at home in no time. Mooks does not like to be in his kennels and barks to get out. When he is outside, he is very quiet and easy to walk.

Licorice is a large, female, domestic short hair cat, about 13 years old who seeks a home where she can live out the rest of her life. Calm and loving, Licorice has a beautiful coat which she keeps extra silky soft. She is front declawed and has tested negative for Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia.

Sheba is a female, shepherd mix who came to the shelter as a stray and is anxious to find her new forever home. Although she very curious of her surroundings, she is aware of her human friends and does enjoy affection on her own terms. This 7 year old is more on the independent side but enjoys attention. Even though we love to smother her with kisses and pets, she does not like to be restrained or handled, especially with her back feet. Once she's warmed up a bit, she reacts better with minimal handling but we do not encourage her new family to force the handling issue. It is believed that with time and patience she’ll come around and be able to trust her adopters. She has made improvements while at the shelter and has attended obedience classes where she did great.

Diamond, a 7-year old medium size, female pit bull terrier has been at the shelter more than 3 months, much to long to live in a kennel. A social butterfly, she will have you at hello. Tail wagging, wiggly body and a certain sparkle in her eye, this lady knows the tricks of her trade. Diamond loves squeaky toys. As an owner surrender, this 79lb. doesn't let that bring her down. Although she may be a couple pounds overweight, she has a ton of life and spirit left. She is waiting for a family that can help her become a more healthy, vigorous companion.

Pixie is a domestic short hair, black and white, young female cat. Sweet as pie and adorable as ever, Pixie came to the shelter as a stray. This 7-month old is very social and irresistible. Full of life and very active, adopters will have a blast with this playful kitty. With patches of white fur underneath her coat of black, this is one unique looking feline. Pixie has tested positive for Feline Aids and can go to a home with other FIV Positive cats or a home with no other cats.

Andy Cap is a medium size, adult male, tabby cat. If you are looking for a mushy kitty, your search is over. This very handsome 6- to 8-year old grey tabby is a super sweet, super loving kitty that just loves human interaction. He loves to explore his surroundings but if he had to choose between snooping around and a good petting session, he'd be right there on your lap waiting to get started. "Andy Cap" is up to date with shots, has tested negative for Feline Aids & Feline Leukemia and will be microchipped before leaving the shelter.

Sherman, a hound/terrier mix, cannot get enough of human affection. Once he realized the benefits of socializing, he is unable to resist introducing himself to strangers. Although this is a fantastic quality, the shelter staff wants to make sure it doesn't escalate into needy behaviors. Adopters will have to be able to correct this and only reward him when he's calm and quiet. Because he came in as a stray, the staff is not able to determine his past lifestyle, but are extra happy to know he loves to surround himself with people. Basic obedience along with physical and mental exercise are great ways to help with bonding and shedding some excess weight. With a balanced lifestyle and a stable routine, Sherman will undoubtedly transform into a more confident and calm companion. Sherman is very easy to walk and has become a volunteer favorite.

Socks is an adult, female black and white/tuxedo cat. She has been at the shelter for almost a full year. Socks may appear to be shy when you first meet her, but all it takes is a hand that wants to pet her and she will start to purr. She will rub into your hand and clearly does not want you to stop rubbing her. She’s a big girl with a big heart.

Mikayla is a medium side, female, husky just 2-years-old. Cute and irresistible, this unique little girl is now waiting for her forever home. Her owners were moving and, unfortunately, were unable to take her bring her with them. She is full of life and vigor. Mikayla will need a strong and confident leader who can help boost her self-esteem and someone who can provide her with continued socialization.
