It’s Monday – a painful day for most people, yours truly included. Sometimes it is made even more painful as we remember just how much money we ended up spending over the weekend.

It’s one word that can make people cringe, angry and sad all at the same time, a rare occurrence indeed. There are plenty of reasons for this – people are told at work that their budgets are being cut, their ideas cannot be funded because they are not in the budget, and in our personal life, our budgets don’t usually quite match up to our desires.

We are now officially in what I like to call “Deep Summer,” or the sweet spot between the 4th of July and Labor Day. Schools are all closed, vacation time is being taken, and everyone seems to have a little more free time on their hands. We have talked about summertime entertaining, prepping your backyard for summer usage, and keeping everything budget friendly.

But what about some ideas for a simple summer barbeque?

1) Keep the menu simple
2) Stockpile meats in advance (they always seem to be on sale when you don’t need them)
3) Set a budget
4) Make it a Facebook event to get a more accurate headcount
