Hasbrouck Heights to Get Historic Clock from Lions Club

The Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club, known for its generosity and continuous supporter of this community, is giving a a specical gift to the borough - a clock tower which will be displayed in front of Borough Hall.

The clock will have a historic look which will fit right in with the historicly designed light posts that already line the Boulevard in front of Borough Hall.

The borough is still in the early stages of preparing to receive the donation getting ready to receive quotes for the installation, says Borough Administrator Mike Kronyak.

The designated place for the clock will likely be right out front of Borough Hall just set back a bit from the curb somewhat in line with the lamp posts but back far enough so the clock itself won't interfere with any trucks that may pull up against the sidewalk, explained Kronyak.

The clock will be two-sided facing north and south. The estimated height of the clock and pole is about 15 1/2 feet, said Kronyak.

Mayor Rose Heck said it was very nice of the Lions Club to do this for the borough. Kronyak commented that the Lions Club is always willing to help the borough calling it a good organization.

This clock donation adds to the long list of contributions the Lions Club has given over the years.  Each year the Lions Club sponsors the fireworks display at Depken Field.

The organization, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2011, helped the borough establish Woodland Park and years later donated the fireplace which sits in the pavillion. Borough officials made it a point to have the new pavillion slated for the park built around the fireplace so as to preserve this piece of borough history and example of the club's genorisity.

Other contributions of the Lions Club include purchasing equipment for the volunteer fire department, lights, scoreboard and marquee for Depken Field.

The borough expects to receive the clock in February and it will be installed at a later date not yet to be determined.
