Morin Home Voted 'Best Decked House' in Hasbrouck Heights

Meet the man behind the custom-made holiday decorations that earned him the 'best' title on Hasbrouck Heights Patch.

Anthony Morin says he enjoys making others smile each holiday season.

Each year he and his family put together quite an impressive display of custom-made holiday decorations outside their Hasbrouck Heights home each year. In fact this year's display was voted the best in Hasbrouck Heights by readers in the Patch Deck the House contest.

Morin says ever since his daughter Alexa was born he always enjoyed seeing her smile as Christmas decorations lit up. Today she's 9 and helps her dad put some of the decorations together.

Years ago he would buy decorations but then realized he could make more elaborate ones by building them himself. He and his wife Sondra begin to plan out the design about a month before. Meanwhile he starts building the decorations throughout the year.

Morin who owns his own construction company says he has spent full 8 to 10 hour days building decorations, some of which stand several feet high such as the Christmas lollipops which were in his dislay this year made from PVC pipes and round light fixtures.

He is already planning out next year's display which likely will include 10 foot tall gingerbread figures. The bright display, which features tall green Christmas trees, also looks good during the day as well as at night, Morin explained. He likes to work with bright colors and large items which he feels gives off a theme-park like feeling.
