New Park Pavilion is Up, More Work Still to Come

Plans to upgrade Veterans Memorial Park on Terrace Avenue are still in the early stages.

The newly constructed pavilion at Woodland Park is pretty much all complete.

More work is still to come as the concrete slab which will be the base around the structure still needs to be put in over the coming weeks as well as electrical wiring, explained Mike Kronyak, borough administrator. A time frame for the work still to come is to be mapped out this week he says.

The new pavilion structure had to be constructed around the existing fireplace and chimney which the borough preserved for historical purposes when the old pavilion was torn down earlier this year.

The area around the pavilion will continue to be fenced off while work continues and the tent, which the borough put at the park for activities, will remain until the pavilion is deemed ready for use.

The Woodland Park work is one leg of the borough's goal to get improvements done at all of its parks with assistance from county Open Space grants. The borough previously received a grant which went towards improvements at Firemens Memorial/9-11 Memorial Park and has also received funds towards work it plans to have done at Veterans Memorial Park on Terrace Avenue.

Improvements to Veterans Park are said to include new sidewalks and pavers and installation of electricity.
