Tracy Obenauer knows full well the benefits of massage therapy.
It's done wonders in her life. In fact it even helped save her life.
Now she's devoting her life to helping others realize the same benefits.
Obenauer has brought her massage therapy practice - Sundara Wellness to Hasbrouck Heights. Her massage suite is based in the Route 46 office of Dr. Jan Kasprowicz's New Jersey Chiropractic and Sports Recovery center.
A cancer diagnosis is what led this former Wall Street executive to massage. She had a very rare form of cancer that affected her mobility leaving her with side effects from radiation. She soon found that massage therapy was a lifesaver in helping her get through.
She was in awe of the benefits and was encouraged by her own therapist to go into it herself. After leaving Wall Street to be closer to home for her children, she had been seeking something that wasn't so money-driven or stressful.
"I wanted something more nurturing that provided me some flexibility. It came along because of cancer but it was one of the biggest blessings of my life," said Obenauer who is happy to be devoting her life to helping others.
She is trained in multiple modalities including deep tissue, myofascial, sports, trigger point and orthopedic massage and is also a Certified Reiki Master. She focuses on those who suffer from chronic pain and ongoing issues and those recovering from an illness or injury.
Obenauer says massage can also benefit those who are losing significant amounts of weight. She herself naturally lost 150 pounds naturally. She says massage can help realign the body after significant weight loss.
