Harvey's Hot Bagels and Deli has been open less than two weeks and it's quickly beginning to develop a fan base.
The brand new eatery, located on Route 17 South, just opened its doors on New Year's Eve. The shop offers much more than just bagels such as its wide selection of gourmet sandwiches created by the man behind the name, owner Harvey Gering.
Gering says he's always been passionate about food and very rarely does a day go by when he isn't cooking. Now he is manning his very own bagel and sandwich place seven days a week. His love for creating sandwiches came while previously working at one of his uncle's bagel shops.
Harvey's Bagels and Deli has a ton of sandwiches on its regular menu and he also adds a speciality sandwich of the day as well.
He's named many of the sandwiches after sports teams or athletes. There's the Jeter, the Rangers and the Eli Manning, which Gering says is a popular request.
Gering says the shop is looking to cater to all tastes offering something for everyone. They also do burgers on the grill, and French fries. There's also protein wraps on the menu, breakfast sandwiches and more among the many offerings. All bagels are hand-rolled on premises and everything is baked right there at the store, says Harvey. And they deliver.
Gering is a native of Millburn and most recently he has moved to Hackensack. He says Hasbrouck Heights is a great location for his business and he looks forward to meeting more and more of the community.
The shop is open 7 days a week at about 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Gering says they are always there earlier and people are welcome to stop in before 6 as fresh hot coffee, bagels and sandwiches will be about ready.
