PSE&G Repair Crews to Focus On Hasbrouck Heights Monday

According to PSE&G's service restoration plan those without power in Hasbrouck Heights can hope to get it restored by Monday.

According to PSE&G's service restoration plan the 2,600 customers in Hasbrouck Heights who remain without power should have it returned by end of day Monday.

Governor Chris Christie released the public utility restoration plans on Saturday afternoon which included PSE&G's plans to focus on more than a dozen Bergen County towns this weekend. The plan lists Hasbrouck Heights as a priority work for Monday.

Power has been returned to several parts of the borough however many remain in the dark. DPW Superintendent Bill Spindler said this week that at least 70 percent of the town was without power when the hurricane first hit.

The section near the center of town by Borough Hall continues to be without power with Borough Hall operating on generator power since Wednesday.

Several shops along the Boulevard remain closed due to power outages.

Power has been out for six days on Bell Avenue, Pasadena Avenue, part of Ottawa, Henry, and Paterson among others.

Of 333,690 PSE&G customers in Bergen County, 215,770 lost electricity, according to the company. As of Saturday morning, the utility reported 142,100 remained without service in the county. 

PSE&G also announced it had established a mobile customer service center, offering charging stations, water and ice at the Paramus Park Mall. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

More than 2,000 outside workers were called to help PSE&G and another 600 were expected to arrive, according to PSE&G. In a press conference Thursday, Gov. Chris Christie said he told utility companies to step up repairs and issue new restoration timelines to residents. 

A PSE&G spokesman could not provide additional details Saturday afternoon.
