Rail Commuter Meeting, Relay Kick-Off, School Security Assessment Coming Up This Week

Coming up this week

Hasbrouck Heights  rail commuters have the opportunity to meet with a representative of NJ Transit Tuesday night regarding the fenced off Teterboro/Williams Avenue train stop.

The meeting will take place at Borough Hall at 7:30 p.m. prior to the 8 p.m. mayor and council meeting.

Also Tuesday, a public hearing on ordinances which would put a 1.75 percent increase in place for the police department personnell and its chief will be conducted during the regular 8 p.m. public council meeting.

The 2013 Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society gets officially underway on Wednesday night as the Kick-Off event is set for 7 pm. at the high school.

Residents interested in forming teams for the Relay and fundraise for the event are encouraged to come sign up, get materials they can use for their efforts towards the June 1 - June 2 Relay event which once again will be held at Depken Field.

Thursday night the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education will conduct its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the high school media center. It's expected that an update on the security assessment process could be discussed.

The process began earlier this month after the board held a special meeting to hire an outside consulting firm to conduct the assessment. School officials have said they will use the results of the assessment towards making further improvements to enchance security.
