Santa Returns to Heights, HS Students on TV and More This Week

December is here and with that many exciting holiday programs are taking place in Hasbrouck Heights.

Monday night Santa Claus makes a special visit to read stories to the children of Hasbrouck Heights at the public library.

The popular storytime with Santa event always draws a large crowd of families year after year. Moms and Dads can bring their cameras so they can photograph their youngsters with Santa Claus after the storytime.

Hasbrouck Heights High School's Academic Challenge Team has had recent success in the MSG Varsity Challenge and will appear on local TV this Thursday on Cablevision Channel 14.

Also the Hasbrouck Heights Middle School will put on the musical production of "Pom Pom Zombies" Wednesday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kiefer Auditoriaum at the middle school/high school. Tickets cost $6 for students and $8 for adults.

Community organizations in Hasbrouck Heights continue to collect items for folks affected by flooding from Superstorm Sandy in the neighboring town of Moonachie.

Junior Girl Scout Troop 517 and Brownie Troop 4308 will hold a toy drive and school supply drive Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Central Avenue Park lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the students of Robert L. Craig Elementary School in Moonachie. Patch will provide more details later in the week.
