Author Visit - Joe Dell

The Lodi Memorial Library is pleased to present local
author, Joe Dell on Thursday, March 6th from 6 to 7:30. Mr. Dell
will be discussing his new book, Goin’ Over which takes place in Lodi
and the surrounding areas. Mr. Dell was born and raised in Lodi. He would
eventually learn to play piano and organ and start two bands, Spectrum Green and
Sleepy Hollow. The latter would play free concerts at the Municipal Park in the
amphitheater. Mr. Dell’s talent for using words first appeared back in 2000
when his lyrics for the song 2 Too Late were plastered over the internet. Joe
was set to record with Pat Gesualdo of the D.A.D. program and go on a 2-year
world tour in 2011. However, these plans were cut short due to a near fatal car
accident in which he suffered several injuries including a broken neck that
landed him in a halo vest. While Joe was recovering from these injuries, he
decided to write his book, Goin’ Over. The book was based off of the
album of the same name, released in 2003, which became a cult classic around
the world. The book itself is fiction and contains various sequences in the
main character’s life and contains graphic descriptions that draw the reader
into the world Mr. Dell has created. He also wanted to break new ground by
including a Musie CD with the book. A Musie is a musical piece that contains
both music and spoken word as well. This way the reader can experience the
audio creation the main character has developed with his band. Mr. Dell has
also included details about his trip into the afterlife that he experienced
during his initial stay at the Hackensack Hospital. He is looking forward to
coming out and talking about his book, life experiences and answering questions
that people have for him.
