Heights' Campbell Wins Miss New Jersey Teen Pageant

Hasbrouck Heights' Katherine Campbell is this year's National American Miss NJ Teen pageant winner.

The 16-year-old Hasbrouck Heights High School student is now headed to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. in November to compete in the national competition.

Tuesday night the Hasbrouck Heights mayor and council presented Campbell with a certificate congratulating her on the win and wishing her best of luck in the national competition.

Campbell says it's been an exciting and fun experience as she has been competing over the past few years. Her interest in competing was born in the seventh grade as she and a friend decided to give it a try. With her mother's support she went to many competitions, improving along the way and eventually leading her to compete in the Top Model Search where she won a modeling scholarship.

She got to attend the Miss America pageant last month and is now gearing up for more appearances and volunteering opportunities.

She will be at the Community Awareness Access for All table this coming Saturday during the Town Day event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mayor Rose Heck encouraged attendees to come by and meet the pageant winner.

Campbell aspires to become a nutritionist concentrating on heart disease.
