Junior Friends of the Library Celebrate Grandparent's Day

On Sunday, September 8th, the Junior Friends of the Hasbrouck Heights Library held their first fundraiser raising money for library programming. In celebration of National Grandparent’s Day, the Junior Friends organized the first “Grandparent’s Day Brunch”, hosting many parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and their families to a delicious three course meal at the Crow’s Nest in Hackensack, NJ.

“The Junior Friends wanted to promote a family program that celebrates multi-generational lines of family members and give people a chance to spend a relaxing afternoon conversing and enjoying good food with loved ones,” said Justin Watrel, Chairman of the Junior Friends. “Children and grandchildren were given a chance to have a special message read to a loved one and that brought about a lot of smiles and hugs. As part of the fundraising effort, we gave guests the chance to buy their loved one a corsage and boutonniere to add that special touch to the afternoon.”

Over thirty guests laughed, conversed and remembered old times all for a special afternoon out. “We enjoyed wonderful food and excellent service and want to thank the management and staff of the Crow’s Nest for making this such an enjoyable afternoon,” said Watrel. Members of the Executive hosted their extended families and President Judy Mascis welcomed all who attended and wished everyone a Happy Grandparent’s Day.
