#8 Leadership - Top Ten List for Belonging to The Hasbrouck Heights Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber is an organization of business owners who are working together to lead the growth of the community by stimulating business growth. We can do this by focusing on two goals : first, by increasing the amount of business that is actually transacted in the town, and second, by having an open dialogue about the problems and challenges that we face in achieving the first goal. 

The thing to keep in mind is that every business in Hasbrouck Heights is unique, and attracts a unique customer. By bringing in one customer to Hasbrouck Heights to spend on one item, you increase the opportunity for that customer to see, visit and purchase from another business.

Your customers visit other businesses and the customers of other businesses visit you. However, if we fail to see this, and instead feel that here is only one sale to go around, we will all fail. 

The unity of our business community will strengthen us all.

It has been noted that the people of Hasbrouck Heights don't patronize local businesses. To the extent that is a problem we can measure it, and develop a plan to change it. But it does require one step on each business owner's part - to know who your customers are, where they come form and why they are YOUR customer. I recommend having an email list and to stay in touch with them regularly - ask, what they want , and what you can do to improve.
