Thank You for Your Vote of Confidence
Three times the required number of voters wrote my name in as a candidate for the town council in this coming November election.
I am honored and humbled to have your help. We had no idea how hugely successful it would be. Especially since it is a technical feat to spell my name, and type it in correctly with the little keypad. They said it couldn't be done.Over the past months folks have been coming up to me asking, "Matthew. Is it true? I hear you're running for Council?" and when I answered YES. If I was a writer for Patch.com or the Observer I would write a little something about this achievement and point out that :
In 1956, Dwight Eisenhower won the Republican Massachusetts presidential primary with 51,951 write-ins.
- In 1960, Richard Nixon won the Republican Massachusetts presidential primary with 53,164 write-ins.
- Also in 1960, John F. Kennedy won the Democratic Pennsylvania presidential primary with 183,073 write-ins, and he won the Democratic Massachusetts presidential primary with 91,607 write-ins.
