Two men have been indicted on vehicular homicide charges stemming from an alleged road rage incident on the Garden State Parkway nearly two years ago that killed a Bergen County woman, NorthJersey.com reported.

According to the report, the indictment claims that Thomas J. Vanderweit, 27, of Saddle Brook, and John C. Emili, 20, of New City, N.Y., were driving recklessly on a stretch of the roadway in Washington Township on July 1, 2012, and caused an accident that killed Annetta Billingy. The 63-year-old Teaneck woman was a backseat passenger in Emili’s car, the report said.

In the accident, authorities say Emili attempted to pass Vanderweit’s car on the right, lost control of his SUV, struck a guardrail, and veered back onto the roadway, the report said.

The SUV flipped over and hit Vanderweit’s truck, which then hit the guardrail, the report said.

Billingy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and killed in the crash, the report said.

The two drivers had allegedly been taigating, changing lanes, and speeding before the accident, the report said.
