Heights Pushes to Keep Boulevard Bus Stops

A sign alerting customers NJ Transit would no longer provide service at south end of town had Heights commuters alarmed.

Bus service at Columbus and Harrison on the Boulevard will continue.

Hasbrouck Heights Police Chief Michael Colaneri said there has been recent confusion for commuters due to a sign which NJ Transit had posted alerting customers it would no longer provide service in that area.

The signs were removed Wednesday and bus service at these courtesy stops will continue, the Chief told Patch.

The two stops have never been permanent ones but NJ Transit had agreed to honor the stops in this south area of town, according to Colaneri. But now he has made recommendations to have these stops made permanent ones something the governing body supports and intends to take steps towards at the next meeting, said the Chief.

Without the two stops commuters would have to walk several blocks to get a bus, either at the border of Wood-Ridge or at the traffic circle on Passaic.
