Heights Police Investigation Leads to Prostitution Arrest

Virginia woman charged with prostitution at local hotel

An undercover investigation by the led to the arrest of a Virginia woman who was allegedly using a hotel room in the borough for prostitution, said Police Captain Jack DeLorenzo.

Debra Hamby, 34, of Warsaw, Virginia was charged with prostitution Friday night as a result of an investigation led by Officer Michael Colaneri and Sgt. Joseph Rinke, DeLorenzo told Patch Tuesday.

DeLorenzo said Hamby was allegedly advertising online as a way to meet customers. They would call and set up an appointment, he said.

Through an investigation into another incident, Heights officers found an advertisement linked to Hasbrouck Heights, said DeLorenzo. Police traced Hamby to the where she had rented a room to allegedly meet customers, according to the captain.

Police said it is not believed Hamby had any connection with the borough or the hotel.
