One Killed, 7 Injured in Route 80 Crash

Alex Fermin, 22, of Passaic, was killed Saturday night in a two-car collision on Route 80 in Saddle Brook, state police said.

One man lost his life and seven others suffered injuries in a two-car crash on Route 80 in Saddle Brook Saturday night, according to media reports.

Alex Fermin, 22, of Passaic, was killed after his Honda drifted out of the left center lane and struck a Hyundai carrying six occupants in the right center lane around Route 80 mile marker 63.7, NorthJersey.com reported.

The crash sent both vehicles careening over a grass median on the right side of the highway and Fermin was ejected from his vehicle. He suffered serious head injuries and was prounced dead around 8:22 p.m., police said.

Fermin's passenger, Cynthia Valderrama, of Maywood, sustained serious abdominal injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, NJ.com reported.

The driver of the Hyundai and her five passengers suffered minor injuries and were also treated at HUMC.
