UPDATE: Police and Fire Departments Investigate Fatal Woodside Avenue Accident

NorthJersey.com identifies the deceased driver as a Hasbrouck Heights man

Police were continuing to investigate a fatal accident Friday evening that took place that afternoon on the border of Lodi and Hasbrouck Heights.

Hasbrouck Heights Police confirmed Friday evening there was one fatality, the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a home on Woodside Avenue. Onlookers had said the car was said to have traveled down Washington Place crashing into the home.

According to NorthJersey.com the deceased driver was identified as Jon Perconti of Hasbrouck Heights.

Police and fire officials from both Hasbrouck Heights and Lodi were on the scene. The area of Woodside Avenue was closed off at Washington Place. Helicopters flew above as neighboring residents and onlookers watched from behind a taped off area.

A second vehicle, which appeared to have been involved in the collision, was parked at the intersection of Washington Place and Woodside Avenue. Onlookers said one person was taken away by ambulance.

Officer Paul Albanese of the Hasbrouck Heights police said Friday evening the investigation would be ongoing for some time. At that time, no details regarding the accident or those involved were available.
