Police Charge Man With Theft As Investigation Into String Of Car Break-Ins Continues

Incidents occurred over the weekend and Monday, police say

Police have made an arrest as a result of an investigation into a string of car break-ins which took place over the weekend and early Monday.

On Tuesday, police charged resident Anthony M. Marano with one count of possession of stolen property, Police Capt. Jack DeLorenzo said. Police say Marano had items in his possession which had been reported stolen.

He has not been charged with all of the break-ins.

Police responded to about 11 incidents of thefts to vehicles over the weekend many of which occurred on the streets near Depken field. On Monday about four incidents of thefts to vehicles were reported, one on Hamilton Avenue and three on Walter Avenue.

DeLorenzo said there were no signs of forced entry to the vehicles.

Police reminded residents to always lock their car doors and not to leave any valuable items visible. Residents who see anything suspicious can notify the police department by calling 201-288-1000.
