Teens Charged With Car Theft

According to the police captain, two teens were found in possession of items that had been reported stolen from unlocked vehicles in the area.

Two teens were charged with theft this weekend after police found them in possession of electronic items they believed were stolen from vehicles in the area, police said.

Police charged Jorge Camacho, 19, of Hasbrouck Heights and Juan Duarte, 18, of Jersey City with theft Saturday, said Captain Jack Delorenzo of on Tuesday.

According to the captain, the two males were spotted on after 2 a.m. Saturday by Officer John Behr who was on patrol. After investigating Officer Behr found the two males in possession of two GPS devices and one iPod Touch which were later identified as stolen items, said Delorenzo.

The captain confirmed that two of the items were stolen from unlocked vehicles in Heights over the past week. The third item was reported stolen in Paramus also in the past week, Delorenzo said.

Heights has continued to have in the borough and police continue to remind residents to secure vehicles and to not leave valuable items in view.
