Heights Police Charge Parsippany Man With Gas Station Robbery

Hasbrouck Heights Police say robbery at the Shell Gas Station took place Monday at 3:20 a.m.

have charged a Parsippany man with the early morning robbery of the on Route 17 South on Monday.

John Depta, 47, was arrested at approximately 1 a.m. at his home on Tuesday with the assistance of Parsippany Police, according to a statement from the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department.

Heights Police charged Depta with robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm without permission to carry a firearm. He was transported to Bergen County Jail. Bail was set at $200,000.

Police say the robbery took place Monday at approximately 3:20 a.m.  Interviews with the victim led police to identify Depta as the primary suspect, according to the statement.

Mahwah Police Department, East Rutherford Police Department, Garfield Police Department, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and the Parsippany Police Department assisted with the investigation.
