Cops: Pair Brutally Assaulted Heights Man

Police charged two men in the assault and robbery of a Hasbrouck Heights man; the victim was sent to the hospital with multiple broken bones in his face.

A Hasbrouck Heights man suffered a broken nose and other facial injuries after a pair of local men robbed and assaulted him last week, police said Friday.

According to Hasbrouck Heights police, the unidentified 20-year-old male victim was assaulted and robbed outside his Heights home on the evening of March 13.

Police refused to identify the items stolen from the victim.

A subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of Mario Querubin, 20, at his Bogota residence Wednesday. He threatened police and resisted arrest but was eventually placed in custody, police said.

Astrit Kupi, 20, of Palisades Park turned himself in to Heights police on Thursday, according to a statement from the chief’s office.

Cops believe the man's alleged beaters knew him. Both men were charged with robbery, aggravated assault and theft.

Police also charged Querubin with making terroristic threats after he threatened officers and the victim while in police custody, police said.

Bail for both males was set at $250,000, police said.

Bogota and Palisades police departments assisted with the investigation and arrest.
