UPDATE: Terrace Avenue Now Open to Traffic

Terrace Avenue was closed for most of Friday morning due to emergency repairs to a utility pole caused by a car crash

UPDATE 12:45 p.m. - Terrace Avenue is now open to traffic. The roadway was closed for the majority of the morning due to emergency repairs to a utility pole that was severely damaged by a car crash early Friday morning.

By 12:30 p.m. Friday the utility pole had been restored while a piece of the damaged pole still remained at the scene.

Patrolman Paul Basset of the who was at the scene Friday morning told Patch that an 18 year old male from Lodi was driving southbound on Terrace Avenue around 5:40 a.m., fell asleep at the wheel causing the vehicle to swerve into the opposite lane. His vehicle struck the pole uprooting it from the ground and splitting it in two.

The driver had to be rescued from the vehicle by way of Hasbrouck Heights Fire and Rescue. He has been transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of bruises.

Police said they had not received reports of power outages as a result of the damaged pole.
