Three Men Charged in Lodi Gunpoint Holdup

Authorities say a Teaneck man pulled a gun, stole cash and cigarettes from the Essex Street BP Gas Station in Lodi.

A month-long investigation has led to the arrest of three Teaneck men in the November gunpoint robbery of a Lodi gas station, the prosecutor’s office announced Wednesday.

Jean Barthelemy, 21, pulled a handgun on the Essex Street BP Station clerk while two accomplices waited outside in a gateway car around 4 a.m. Nov. 13, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said. Barthelemy forced the worker to open the register and stole about $800 in cash.

He also swiped a pack of Newport cigarettes on the way out before fleeing in 20-year-old Daniel Margulise’s car, Molinelli said. During the escape, Barthelemy discarded clothing incase the trio was stopped by responding police.

Investigators arrested Barthelemy, Margulise and the third man, 20-year-old Carlos Escarraman Monday, according to Molinelli. Barthelemy faces charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and handgun possession.

Barthelemy was being held Wednesday on $250,000 bail at the Bergen County Jail, records show. His two alleged accomplices were charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and each held on $50,000 bail.

Its really sad that kids so young commit these acts. Is it boredom, lack of self esteem, their upbringing. What is going on in todays kids. Are parents really parents. We see parents behaving worse than their kids. Be it alcohol or drugs

I would venture to say their role models..be it their parents, grandparents, guardians may have been in trouble with the law and this is normal for these kids. Or some type of abuse
