Collins, Burton Avenues Get Facelift

Road resurfacing work underway this week.

Parts of are undergoing a facelift as both roads are getting a fresh layer of blacktop this week.

The project to resurface both roads from the Route 46 border up to Williams Avenue began earlier this week. Borough Engineer Ken Job said Tuesday the improvements to the roads will also include the installation of ADA-compliant barrier-free curb ramps which is now required of all road projects.

This road resurfacing project is being treated separately from the borough's annual road improvement project which is paid for by the capital improvement fund.

The work to is being mostly funded by a $81,000 community development block grant the borough received late last year. The borough awarded a bid last fall to D&L Paving Contractors of Nutley for the amount of $116,218.25. The borough would fund the balance not covered by the grant as well as engineering costs.
