Funds Earmarked for Coolidge Avenue Reconstruction

Reconstruction of Coolidge Avenue, a project the borough has been trying to get off the ground for many years, may finally be in the works soon.

Borough officials introduced an ordinance Tuesday to appropriate $425,000 from its capital improvement fund to fix up this roadway which is said to be in serious need of repair for a number of years.

The project would entail full reconstruction of the entire length of the road. Work will also include the replacing or repairing of certain curbs, sidewalks, drainage facilities and any other necessary repairs, as per the ordinance.

Originally the borough had for the project but those monies never materialized, officials have said, which brought the borough back to the drawing board.

The road’s condition is beyond the point where it could be resurfaced therefore reconstruction of the entire street is needed, the borough’s engineer Ken Job explained.

Some work to fix the road began last year. The which were growing into the road and curb but officials had said much more work still had to be done.
