Heights Driving Towards More Road Repaving This Year

Hasbrouck Heights is taking the first steps toward getting another round of roads repaved this year.

Each year the borough sets out to repave a handful of roads off a growing list which is updated annually by the DPW.

Mike Kronyak, borough administrator, said it's an extensive list which in total amounts to roughly $1.8 million worth of work however the borough instead sets out to spend roughly $250,000 to $400,000 on road improvements each year.

This year the borough plans to spend between $250,000 and $300,000 towards needed improvements, he said. It's expected the governing body will approve a funding ordinance in the next month to allocate funds set aside towards the improvements.

Next the governing body will have to decide which roads on the list will be selected for repaving.

This past Spring the borough repaved five roads as part of the 2012 road improvement project.
