Lipari, Semenecz Take Their Seats on the Council

Republican Councilman Russell Lipari begins his second term on the council; Democrat Christian Semenecz joins the council once again.

Surrounded by family, friends and numerous members of the community, Russell Lipari and Christian Semenecz were sworn in as Hasbrouck Heights councilmen on New Year's Day.

Semenecz was joined by his wife Jayne and several family members as Mayor Rose Heck administered the oath of office. Semenecz,  who formerly served as a councilman in the late 1970s, is the first Democrat to be elected in Hasbrouck Heights in a number of years.

Semenecz pledged to work hard and thanked his wife, family and the community. He is also a long time volunteer with the borough's fire department and former fire chief.

Lipari, a Republican, once again thanked the public of Hasbrouck Heights for re-electing him. This will be his second term on the council. His daughter held the Bible and other family members stood by as County Executive Kathleen Donovan administered the oath of office.

Councilwoman Pamela Link was elected by fellow council members as Council President for the 2013 year.
