More Funds Needed for Park Pavillion Project

Hasbrouck Heights will likely have to invest some additional funding into the new pavilion project planned for Woodland Park.

When the borough went out for bid last month the lowest came in slightly higher than the amount the borough allocated for the project, reported Ken Job, the borough’s engineer.  The borough had estimated about for the project and the lowest bid came in at about $145,000, according to Job.

Job recommended that the borough consider making more funding available with the hopes of being able to award to the lowest bidder. This option was believed to be more manageable than revising the scope of the project. Mike Kronyak, borough administrator, said he would look into finding additional funds that could be used to cover the additional amount this project may cost.

About half of the funding for the new pavilion comes is coming from a . The borough is funding the balance.

The new pavilion will replace the current one which has more than outlasted its lifespan showing extensive wear and tear, officials have said. The new pavilion will be erected in the exact same spot and will be made to fit around the fireplace structure that exists there now. The old fireplace was donated by the Lions Club decades ago and is a piece of borough history officials want to preserve.

The borough hopes to have the project completed by next Spring.
