Republican and Democratic Candidates for Mayor and Council Seats Announced

Today was the filing deadline to run in the June 7 primary election for municipal, county and state seats.

In Hasbrouck Heights, Mayor Rose Heck (Republican) is seeking re-election to her second consecutive term. She has also served as mayor for two terms from the late 1980s to early 1990s before she was elected to the state assembly. Democrat Catherine W. Ellison challenges Heck for the mayoral seat.

Both Councilman Justin DiPisa and Councilwoman Pamela Link will seek re-election. They will be challenged by Democrats Doris Tousto and Mary K. Blanusa. DiPisa seeks his sixth term on the council and Link seeks her second term.

On the county level, Democrat Joan Voss seeks election to Freeholder along with David Ganz. Now that Fort Lee, her hometown, is no longer part of District 38 since the redistricting decision, Voss, who currently serves in the state assembly, has decided not to challenge her colleagues in district 37 or move to another town in district 38 in order to try to stay in the state assembly.

Republicans running for Freeholder are Joel Brizzi and Anthony Rottino.  County Clerk  Elizabeth “Liz” Randall (Republican) will face John Hogan (Democrat).
