The school was born in September 1928 consisting of just six grades. Ten years later as the parish continued to grow the purchase of additonal property made way for the consruction of a new building which consisted eight classrooms, offices and library and gym. The school was expanded once again in 1957 where more classrooms and a chapel were added.

"It's been a joy working with the children here. It's always been my home away from home," Murillo told Patch.

She has seen a lot of growth over the years and although she does look forward to retirement, Murillo says she will really miss the kids.

Murillo's last day will be June 30.
