Field Gets Lightning Detection System From Heights Lions Club

The system will be used as a safety measure for students.

Members of the Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club presented the Board of Education with a check for $8,220 to fund a lightning detection system for Depken Athletic Field.

The system will be used as a safety measure as it is able to detect lightning in the area and will alert by way of a siren if an electrical storm is on its way, explained Dina Messery, business administrator.

In the coming weeks there will be signs posted at the field explaining the how the system works and how to proceed following a siren alert.
