Hasbrouck Heights Schools, Corpus Christi Closed Due to Storm Threat

Public schools and Corpus Christi School will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m. - Parents received word Sunday that Hasbrouck Heights Public Schools and Corpus Christi School will be closed Monday and Tuesday this week due to the threat of Hurricane Sandy which is expected to hit the north Jersey area by Monday morning.

Corpus Christi School school officials confirmed Sunday evening that the decision to close schools came Sunday afternoon. The school will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

Many area schools began announcing closures on Sunday including Bergen Community College which reports via its website it has cancelled classes for Monday.

NJ Transit has begun shutting down service as of 4 p.m Sunday and the New York Mass Transit will also shut down in preparatin of the storm.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to bring rainfall of up to 12 inches in some areas over the course of two days.
