School Playgrounds Will Get Makeover, Facilities Ready for Fall

An engineer will do a survey of the Euclid and Lincoln playgrounds, a first step towards renovation.

Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education are taking the first steps in having the playground areas at both and Schools made over.

Board trustee Mark Stefaneli reported Thursday that the board has hired Job and Job Engineering, the borough’s engineer, to complete a topographic survey of both playgrounds. The first step would be to renovate the playground surface, drainage and fencing.

In other facility improvements, board members reported work to replace ceilings in six second floor classrooms at is almost complete. Emergency repairs were done to which was brought on by a partial collapse of the ceiling in one of the rooms on the last day of school.

Some of the elementary school classrooms have also had floors redone and have been painted, Stefanelli said.

The board is working to upgrade the camera system at .  At the middle school, in the hallways and near bathroom entrances, another move towards eliminating bullying in the schools.

The media center is going through some renovations. Some of the room will also be used as class space, administrators have reported.

Some of the book shelves towards the back of the room have been removed and rearranged making room for more tables and chairs. The Board of Education meetings, which were previously held in the tiled floor area of the room at the Lasalle side entrance, will now be conducted in the back area of the media center going forward.
