Heights' Sheridan Named Defensive Player of the Week

The Hasbrouck Heights High School alum now plays soccer for Felician College.

Hasbrouck Heights' Julia Sheridan has become the first women soccer student-athlete at Felician College to be chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. 

Sheridan was given the title for the period which ended Sept. 8 the CACC announced this week according to a statement from Felician College. 

Sheridan, a 5-foot-5 goalkeeper, had a busy weekend as Felician opened its season by splitting two road games.

In a 4-0 loss at the No. 4 nationally-ranked College of Saint Rose on Saturday, followed by a 1-0 victory at Stonehill College on Sunday, she combined to face 51 shots and 17 corner kicks. She made 15 saves for the weekend and help the Golden Falcons successfully defend 16 of the 17 corners.

Sheridan stopped a career-high 11 shots in shutting out Stonehill on Sunday, helping Felician emerge victorious despite a 28-9 disadvantage in shot attempts. It was the third solo shutout of her collegiate career.
