Heights Swim Club Team Kicks-Off Season With a Win

The Hasbrouck Heights Swim Club Aviators opened the 2013 season last week with a victory over Woodcliff Lake, 261-179.

The victory was even sweeter as it was the team’s first win in over three years.   “I’m incredibly proud of all the swimmers,” said second-year Head Coach Carly Muhlhahn.

In addition to the win, seven swimmers qualified for the end-of-season County meet due to their notable times. All swimmers improved their individual times from the pre-season time trials.

“They all improved their times and became better swimmers,” said Coach Carly of the whole team. “I look forward to what the reason of the season will bring.”

The HHSC Aviators swim team consists of 64 swimmers, ranging in age from 5-17. They compete in six events: freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, relay and individual medley. Coach Carly has two assistant coaches, Alex Ganguzza and Jenna DiGiacinto.

HHSC will compete in three more meets this season. Monday, July 15, they travel to Ridgefield. They will host the last two meets of the season on Wednesday, July 17 against Waldwick, and Monday, July 22 against River Edge. The public is welcome to come out and support the team.
