Super Bowl Tailgate Party to Take Over East Rutherford Sunday

$10 fee includes shuttle service and access to food, drinks, live entertainment in run up to big game.

For the first time ever, the biggest American sporting event of the year is here, right in your backyard, and you can’t even party to celebrate.

Or can you?

Super Bowl XLVIII, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford won’t have any tailgating availability in the parking lot, much to the dismay of thousands of ticket holders and locals.

But, as they’d say in football terms, there’s an end-around.

Hackensack Medical Center Fitness & Wellness Center Powered by the Giants will host the Meadowlands Tailgate Party Live from East Rutherford on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and everyone’s invited.

Parking will be at Lowe’s at 150 Route 17 North and The Landmark at 26 Route 17 South with free shuttle service to the tailgate in the center of East Rutherford. Children 12 and under are free, and everyone else will receive a wristband for a $10 admission fee.

Admission gives tailgaters access to 10 Food Trucks on Park Avenue, a Bud Light Beer Garden Tent at Park Tavern and Blarney Station, and amusement activities like an inflatable obstacle course, rock wall, and bungee trampoline on Park Avenue.

The New Jersey Devils dancers and mascot will be on hand and events for kids like face painting will also be available. If you can’t wait for the biggest competition of the day to begin, join the cannoli-eating contest on Railroad Avenue.
