Lots of News From Contemporary Club, Lincoln School PTA and More

Weekly feature highlights news and updates from borough clubs, organizations and committees.

The Contemporary Club hosted its annual Soup and Salad luncheon this past week and is now beginning to gear up for upcoming events in the coming months.

The next event will be the club’s annual Fish and Chips Dinner (Tastefully British) which is set for March 22 at the

The next Contemporary Club meeting will take place Feb. 28 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. New members are always welcomes. For more information call Pat at 201-288-0485.

The NJFSFWC ‘s Palisades District, which the Contemporary Club is part of, will hold a Beefsteak Dinner for Glida’s Club of Northern NJ on March 2. Tickets cost $45 and will be held at the Lyndhurst Senior Center. Doors open 5:30 until 10 p.m.  For more information and for tickets call Pat Link at 201-288-0495. The Contemporary Club  is helping out with the state’s special project of raising money for cancer research.

Members of the Hasbrouck Heights community are banding together in support of a friend in need. A benefit dinner has been organized at the Venetian in Garfield on March 7 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. for “Desiree" a resident of Hasbrouck Heights whose husband suddenly passed away last year and has since been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Friends and family are working to help support Desiree and her family.

The event will include food, music, and raffles. The event organizers are looking to fill tables of 10 and the cost is $100 per person. All donations should be sent to "Dedicated to Desiree" at P.O. Box 83 in Wyckoff, NJ 07481 by Feb. 20. Checks should be made payable to THE CHIC CHARITY CLUB.

Organizers said they will also graciously accept any donations from larger corporations or companies, either monetary or in the form of a raffle prize. For more information contact Merisa at dedicatedtodesiree@aol.com.

The Archdiocese of Newark in conjunction with in Hasbrouck Heights is sponsoring a Catholic Men’s Conference on March 10.

This special event offers a structure of fellowship and support to deepen men’s faith and relationships with Jesus Christ, their families, and society. The Conference will be held at Seton Hall University, 400 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, NJ. Highlight of the day will be the Celebration of Mass by Archbishop John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark. Ticket prices cost:  Adults $25; Students and Seniors $20. A group will be car-pooling from Corpus Christi Church.

Lincoln School PTA is currently selling tickets for its upcoming raffle for a chance to win various prizes including an iPad. Proceeds raised benefit the Lincoln School PTA programs and services.

Tickets cost $5 and only 2,000 tickets are available.

The prizes are:

First – iPad2 Bundle (iPad2 32GB wi-fi and 3G, cover and dock)

Second – iPod Touch Bundle (iPod Touch 32 GB, power life back-up battery and dock).

The drawing will be held on March 15 Lincoln School PTA talent show which will begin at 8 p.m. at the high school auditorium. Winners do not need to be present to be eligible.

The Chic Charity Club upcoming fundraiser event, with the official title of “A Winter’s Night in Monte Carlo,” is set for Feb. 11 at Il Villagio in Carlstadt. Tickets can be purchased via PayPal on the group's web-site, thechiccharityclub.com, or via a club member.

The event will feature casino style gambling, auction and raffle for prizes. Tickets cost $100 which includes a 5-course dinner, open bar, play money, music and dancing. Proceeds benefit the Tomorrow’s Childrens Fund of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Mickey’s Kids Foundation will host its annual gala event on March 16 at Il Villaggio on Route 17 North in Carlstadt. Tickets cost $125 with proceeds benefitting Canine Assistants which raises service dogs for children with disabilities. The event begins at 7 p.m. Last year Mickey’s Kids raised $32,000 for Canine Assistants allowing them to provide a dog for a New Jersey youngster with muscular dystrophy. Mickey’s Kids founders Tom and Michele Meli have previously said the goal this year is to raise enough funds to be able to provide two dogs for youngsters in need.  For more information email steamboatwillie1@verizon.net.
