Capparino and Family Walk for Autism Awareness

Heights' Phyllis Capparino raised more than $1,500 towards autism research and awareness, taking part in the Autism Speaks walk at Bergen Community College this weekend.

Hasbrouck Heights' Phyllis Capparino and family came together as Team Elias this weekend walking in the Autism Speaks event Sunday in support of autism and research and awareness.

Capparino has been fundraising for the cause over the past several months and raised more than $1,500 by spreading the word and conducting can shakes at local supermarkets like Stop & Shop in Hackensack. She and her family took part in the walk in support of her nephew who has diagnosed with a light form of autism.
