BOE Wants Boro to Bond $356K to Returf Hitchcock Field

The field, located behind the high school, may be the restored in a shared services agreement between the council and the Board of Ed.

The Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education is looking at a shared services agreement that would have the municipal government borrow $356,000 to returf Hitchcock Field.

The 14-year-old field, located behind Hasbrouck Heights High School, is used by various groups throughout the town three seasons a year and needs to be replaced, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Porto and School Business Administrator Dina Messery told the council at their Dec. 10 meeting, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.

The board had used money put aside to refurbish the field for other pressing school infrastructure issues. The money in a ten-year bond issue would be repaid annually with interest by the board, Borough Administrator Mike Kronyak said in the NorthJersey.com report.

A report on the plan and opportunities by the public to comment will be announced later next year.
