Chic Charity Club bring Heights businesses together in a first annual event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society.
The first annual Boulevard Restaurant Week is underway and is off to a good start. The Chic Charity Club put this event together working closely with dozens of business owners who quickly jumped on board to take part in this event raising funds and spreading awareness for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life while also helping to promote local small businesses. All this week until Saturday, May 11 select shops, restaurants and salons will donate a portion of their sales to the Chic Charity Club’s team which will walk at Relay for Life. Patrons may be asked to present a flyer (see attached PDF) or mention Boulevard Restaurant Week upon purchase. The Chic Charity Club presents the first annual Boulevard Restaurant Week (May 6 to May 11) where people are encouraged to shop, dine or pamper themselves at participating businesses and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hasbrouck Heights Relay for Life, a benefit for the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life organizing committee hosted the Kick-Off celebration last week for the third annual event, the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The event takes place overnight from June 1 to June 2 once again at Depken Field. Last week team captains and other members were able to sign-up and get materials to begin fundraising for the big event. The first two years the event was held brought in around $100,000 in total for the American Cancer Society. The third annual event devoted to raising funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society will be held overnight June 1 to June 2 at Depken Field.
A kick-off celebration marking the start of this year's Relay for Life fundraiser event towards finding a cure for cancer is set for next Wednesday night. The Feb. 27 event set for 7 p.m. at Hasbrouck Heights High School will bring together the community along with the American Cancer Society representatives to get fundraising efforts underway for the June 1 and June 2 event to be held once again Depken Field. The event has drawn hundreds to the field the past two years walking in honor of those who have survived this disease, to support a loved one or friend battling cancer, or in memory of those who lost their fight. Hope. Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. Every step taken on the track at Depken field this weekend symbolized all of the above. The shared goal among those who took part in the Relay for Life is the hope that one day no one will ever have to say the words "I have cancer" ever again. People came together under a beautiful night sky this weekend to walk in the second annual Relay for Life, in support of the American Cancer Society, helping it get closer to finding a cure. Arm in arm or hand in hand, people walked together in memory of loved ones, in support of someone fighting the disease, or in celebration of the fact that people truly can fight cancer and win. Reminders for the weekend of June 2 and June 3
The Town-Wide garage sale is this weekend and more than 100 homes will host sales. Be sure to look at our map! The second annual Relay for Life, fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, begins Saturday evening into Sunday morning. Registration begins after 5 p.m. and the walk begins at 7 p.m. The free paper shredding recycling event will be held at the Central Avenue Park lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Also the satellite recycling container will be there from 7 a.m. to noon. Chic Charity Club hosts a clothing drive at the same location from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The book and bake sale of the Friends of the Library will be held from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the senior center.

With just a little more than 24 hours before the second annual Relay for Life begins, donations continue to come in by the hour as supporters gear up to walk with friends and loved ones united in the fight against cancer. By Friday night, the total amount raised had climbed above $30,000 as donations continued to pour in. This fundraiser, which benefits the American Cancer Society, will be held overnight at Depken Field from 7 p.m. Saturday, June 2 until 6 a.m. Sunday, June 3. Basketball game, Zumba event, paint the town purple day are all events set up to help raise funds for the second annual Relay for Life.
Supporters in the fight against cancer are already taking steps to raise funds before they even begin their official walk around the track at Depken Field next month during Relay for Life. Fundraising for the American Cancer Society is ongoing and many community events organized by groups or individuals who are taking part in the June 2 and June 3 overnight Relay for Life are getting underway. Students and faculty will square off on the basketball court Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the new gym to raise money for the Relay.
