Heights Farmers Market Brings Both New, Familiar Faces

Fresh produce, breads, pickles, pastries, jewelry and more at the Central Avenue parking lot every Tuesday.

The Hasbrouck Heights Farmers Market officially kicked off the season this week.

Familiar faces like Asprocola Farms and Pinhas Farms are back once again with their fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and thensome. The season debut Tuesday also brought out a number of new local businesses who intend to return regularly.

George Asprocola says it's the 11th year they have been part of the market. It's the fourth year for Pinhas Market. Both are based down in Millstone down in Monmouth County and sell their produce at markets all over different parts of the state

Johnny and Roxeanne of Johnny Cookies are back with their stuffed breads, cookies, and muffins. Other regulars include Dr. Pickles which returns for a fourth year with its organic pickles, mushrooms, peppers and more and Hoboken Farms is back with its meat and cheeses.

New faces this year include Lola and Charlie of HLC Treasures who had a table of their unique gifts on display such as bracelets and necklaces and charms, all handmade. They can even custom-make charms out of one's photo.

Laura Vitelli of Jar Goods was on hand giving out samples of the Hoboken-based company's Classic Red tomato sauce.

Belamari bakery and tea salon had trays of yummy goodies like pastries, cookies and brownies. One can even shop for handbags and other accessories with Cathy Ascione.

The Farmer's Market is open every Tuesday from 12 to 6 p.m at the Central Avenue parking lot.
